Yesterday, it was reported that IndiGo promoters have put 1.56 crore shares on block and the floor price for the sale is Rs 1,875 a share. The deal was estimated to be worth $350 million with Goldman Sachs as the broker. As of December 2022, promoter and promoter group entities held about 72% stake in the company that owns IndiGo airline.

On Wednesday, the markets started the day in the negative territory. The Nifty, though, gained sharply in the closing 90 minutes of the day, rising above two resistance points.

On January 24, Adani Group was India's second-largest conglomerate by market capitalisation (about Rs 19 lakh crore) behind the Tatas when US short-seller Hindenburg Research published the damning report. Since then, Adani Group has lost more than half its value - its market cap is currently at Rs 8.7 lakh crore and ranks fourth. Over Rs 10.5 lakh crore or over $125 billion has been wiped out in Adani Group stocks in 15 trading sessions.

Bank of Baroda chief economist Madan Sabnavis said the higher T-bill yields reflect the dwindling banking liquidity and persistent inflationary expectations. "After the budget announcement, the 364-day yield has gone up by almost 8 basis points every week. This also can be related to surplus liquidity, which is now down to less than ₹1 lakh crore. Also, inflation fears and possible rate increase has spiked up the rate further in today's auction," Sabnavis said.

At least three leading charitable trusts are learnt to be in advanced talks with the National Stock Exchange (NSE) for a listing, said people with direct knowledge of the matter. The exchange, which received in-principle approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) to launch the social stock exchange platform, is currently awaiting the final nod.

For the fortnight ending January 13, credit growth rose 16.5% annualised as against 10.6% growth in deposits. Some brokers are taking 15-20 minutes to set a limit for trading after fund transfers, while the limit for pledged shares is taking 45-90 minutes, said market participants. This is resulting in delay in immediate trade execution, they said.

Triton had offered ₹210 crore in cash to creditors of AMW Motors at more-than-94% haircut to lenders that have admitted claims of ₹3,756 crore. The NCLT had approved the plan in December giving Triton 45 days to complete the transaction. However, Triton failed to make the payment in the stipulated time as a result of which the guarantee was invoked, people familiar with the matter said.

The Swiss challenge auction is scheduled on February 27, according to a notice issued by the bank early this week. If the offer by the ASREC is not challenged, it will equate to a recovery of 40 paise on a rupee for J&K Bank.
