The Reserve Bank of India has established a working group to propose a framework for a smoother transition to the expected credit loss-based provisioning system. The group, headed by R. Narayanaswamy, will provide inputs on technical aspects of the transition. The new system would be a shift from the current incurred loss-based provisioning regime. While there are concerns about the impact on banks' profits, India Ratings and Research believes that the healthy operating buffers and provision coverage ratio provide comfort. The group will also suggest factors for determining credit risk and recommend prudential floors for provisioning.

"Investment advisers are required to register with the new first-level regulator. There are large numbers - 35% of the investment advisers are still not registered," said Buch at an industry event on Wednesday. "It's your profession, it's your livelihood but you have not found the time or inclination to come and register with the first-level regulator," she said.

The regulator said, following the budget announcement for FY24, it formed 16 working groups, under the aegis of its standing advisory committees.

Bandhan's share of bulk deposits although came down sequentially was higher year-on-year. At the end of September, the total bulk deposits stood at Rs 29098 crore as against Rs 25705 crore a year back. It was at Rs 31240 crore three months back. The current and savings account (CASA) ratio was at 38.5% against 40.8% a year back while the ratio improved from 36% as of June.
